The rechargeable extinguisher consists of an extinguishing agent container and an integrated propellant bottle. The propellant (gas) is only released when activated by means of a lever fitting or firing head. Pressure loss is not possible. However, the rechargeable fire extinguisher must first be activated in the event of a fire so that the gas and extinguishing agent mix and the extinguisher is ready for use.

Charging fire extinguishers are available in foam, powder and water versions. They are often more expensive to purchase, but have lower maintenance costs.
